The relations between Cambodia and Japan represent a noble and enduring friendship, strengthened across virtually every sector over many decades. Built on mutual trust and respect, this cooperation has not only contributed significantly to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, but has also fostered deep bonds of friendship between the peoples of both nations.
In line with the country's continuous growth, Cambodia’s healthcare sector has welcomed many positive transformations and developments. Throughout the journey of building and elevating healthcare quality, Japan has played a vital role by providing assistance, technology, and technical cooperation. Guided by this shared vision, Sunrise Japan Hospital Phnom Penh was established with the core mission of bringing high-quality, safe, and reliable healthcare services directly to the people of Cambodia. Since then, our role has expanded as we have grown together with Cambodia and deepened our commitment to the country’s healthcare development.
Beyond the hospital
Over the past 10 years, Sunrise Japan Hospital has done far more than introduce advanced medical technology and Japanese-standard treatment methods.
We have actively engaged in numerous social and community initiatives, including environmental cleanups, blood donation drives, mobile health screenings at local communities and schools, sports event support, and health educational workshops designed to empower patients and the public.
Learning and sharing knowledge
Furthermore, the hospital has prioritized local human resource development by sending staff to gain direct experience in Japan, as well as fostering continuous knowledge exchange between Japanese medical experts and Cambodian healthcare professionals at Sunrise Japan Hospital.
Beyond internal capacity building, Sunrise Japan Hospital actively contributes to the broader development of Cambodia's healthcare system. We collaborate closely with local healthcare partners—including public hospitals, private medical institutions, and academic organizations—through educational seminars and scientific conferences.
An international scientific conference
Notably, on the occasion of our 10th anniversary, Sunrise Japan Hospital organized an international scientific conference themed “Building an Integrated Healthcare System for Cancer Patients Across All Stages of Life: Patient-Centered Care from Prevention to Palliative Care,” featuring over 20 expert speakers (both Cambodian and Japanese) and drawing over 400 participants from various medical institutions, including healthcare students.
